Why I’m moving “@sahfenn’s Random Stuff” from Tumblr to Posterous…

This photo-blog used to sit on a completely separate account to Daily Walkies but, when Tumblr enabled multiple blogs on one account, I moved it to the same account.

Unfortunately there’s no way to change the primary blog on Tumblr (in this case Daily Walkies) and third party services such as Instagram and ifttt can’t post to anything but the primary blog on an account. So I can’t post directly to Random Stuff from Instagram, for example.

I’ve been waiting to see if Tumblr unlock the ability for us to change the primary blog but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen and the more I use Random Stuff the more restrictive having it as a ‘secondary’ Tumblr blog becomes.

@krider2010 suggested I take a look at Posterous and so I did. I already had an account and had even already grabbed http://sarahfenn.posterous.com/ back in the day.

Posterous has come on in leaps and bounds since I last took a peek. The website works beautifully on an ipad. The iphone app is neat too. My new blog there looks shiny. 

Best of all I’ve just discovered that the Tweetbot twitter app allows users to pick Posterous as their photo service so I can post directly to Random Stuff from my Twitter client which is the whole point of the blog in the first place!

An added bonus is that Posterous does allow it’s users to switch which of their blogs on an account is the primary blog ;)

Inspired by The Totally Rad Show (http://revision3.com/trs) this is what’s on my RADar … Oink - iphone app. Rate things in the world around you and share them. E.g. Rate a beer you enjoyed at a micro-brewery so your friends can see what you liked when they go there. Oink builds a location based database of rated items in the world around you. Extremely well built fun app with good fb/twitter integration. Hero Academy - iphone game. Turn based strategy game against a real opponent. Plays like a board game. Free to buy with in game purchases of different squads available. Can play a random opponent or friends (good facebook & twitter integration). I’m rubbish at it but I love playing anyway! Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Coming out for the Xbox 360 on Friday. Played the demo and very excited for this new fantasy single player. Skyrim didn’t hold my interest for as long as I expected and Fable 3 had me playing to the end. KoA looks to be a cross between the two with amazing combat. Downton Abbey - Watching season 2 on apple TV. Not as good as season 1 but still compulsive viewing. The Shadow Isle - Finally finishing Katharine Kerr’s Deverry series. It’s been so long since I last read one of these the characters feel like something out of the dim and distant past. Rams and Yowes Blanket - A Kate Davis knitting pattern with kit available from Jamieson and Smith.
